The Binduri District is one of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 15 of Municipalities and Districts in the Upper East Region.
Binduri District with its Administrative capital Binduri was carved from Bawku Municipal, created in the year 2012 and was inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012.
Binduri District is located approximately between latitudes 110 111 and 100 401 N and longitudes 00 181 W and 00 61 E in the north-eastern corner of the Upper East Region. The District covers a total land area of 391.91 square kilometres.
It shares boundaries with Burkina Faso to the north, Garu District to the south, Bawku Municipality to the east and Bawku West District to the west.
The population of the District according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 61,576 with 29,612 males and 31,964 females. With a total population of 61,576, the district has a population density of 157.1 persons per square kilometres
